Meet The Coin Blog Writers

Here's a little about the writers you'll find here at The Fun Times Guide to Coins...

Joshua
I am a freelance writer and coin collector living in Florida. My love for coins and numismatics began in 1992, when I was 11 years old, and my enthusiasm for the hobby has only grown since.

1994-josh-collecting-coins-as-teenager.jpg I primarily collect and study U.S. coins produced during the 20th century, but my interests also include Canadian and British coinage, as well as 19th century U.S. coinage.

While I appreciate holding a nice, uncirculated example of a Morgan silver dollar or gold bullion coin, I think nothing beats the story behind something like a well-worn Lincoln cent or Buffalo nickel -- those coins which helped America get through the Great Depression.

William
I have been a coin collector and a rare book and collectible dealer for over 15 years.

My primary areas of interest are U.S. silver coins and older paper currency.

william-a-otis.jpg I started collecting coins when my grandmother left me a Whitman folder full of old Lincoln wheat pennies. I currently concentrate mostly on Mercury and Roosevelt dimes (1916 to present).

The coin I most regret letting go is a 1922 wheat penny with no mintmark (worth $500 today), and my favorite currently owned coin is an 1897 half dollar in Extra Fine condition.

Jay
I have been collecting and trading coins for years. I started here at The Fun Times Guide in December of 2007 by answering questions that people have posted in the Comments of various coin articles.

jaycoins2.jpgCoin collecting is my hobby. I've done a lot of research about coins through the years. Some of which, I look forward to sharing with you here at The Fun Times Guide to Coins.

Oh, and if you're interested in selling any of your coins, I will give fair prices too.

Lynnette
I am neither an "expert" nor a "collector" of coins. Just a person who was fascinated to learn about a few coins that we found lying around the house... so I wrote about it. That was back in 2005.

lynnette_funtimesguide.jpgRight away, we attracted a very large following of novice coin collectors and people who just had basic questions about specific coins that they found lying around the house! As the questions and comments continued to grow, I would post and article or two about a few of the fun facts I learned about coins, in general.

Before long, there we were receiving so many coin questions that I simply couldn't answer, that we decided to find some real coin collectors who could.

We are delighted to welcome William and Jay to TheFunTimesGuide.com as our resident coin experts! I spend most of my time writing about dogs, logs, and other fun stuff.
