Coin Collectors Are Looking For The New Quarters From America The Beautiful Series

new-quarters-washington-quarter-obverse-photo-by-kevindooley.jpg The United States Mint is in the process of releasing new quarters for the America the Beautiful quarter program.

America the Beautiful quarters feature national parks and monuments in each of the 50 states as well as those in the District of Columbia and the United States territories. There’ll be 5 new quarters each year from 2010 until at least 2021.

However, there’s a provision in the America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008 bill that allows for the extension of the program until 2032. That means we may see new quarter designs coming out every 10 weeks for the next 22 years!

While there’ll be many changes on the quarter dollar for years to come, we’ll see one familiar design on the quarter: the old profile of Washington that we saw on our quarter dollars made from 1932 to 1998.

As you’ll see, the list of national parks and monuments reflects the diversity of the United States.

However, you’ll also see that many of the design subjects aren’t wildlife preserves or traditional parks where trees, mountains, and lakes are the stars, like:

  • Ohio’s Perryas Victory and International Peace Memorial
  • Maryland’s Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine

The new quarters are currently being struck and should be hitting pockets, purses, and piggy banks all across America in the coming days and weeks.

The problem is, because these new quarters are going to be very popular and widely collected, the might be hard to find. Keep your eyes on your pocket change!

The Entire List Of New Quarters

The United States Mint has made a list of the new quarters that will be made for the America the Beautiful quarter series. Here’s a rundown of all 56 quarter designs you’ll be wanting to look for.
