Record Number Of American Silver Eagle Coins Made In 2009

american-silver-eagle-coins-united-states-mint-image.jpg Here's a new record for the United States Mint: in 2009, the U.S. Mint struck nearly 30 million American silver eagle coins!

The most recent figures from early December shows a little more than 27 million had been sold at that point. That easily beats the record set in 2008 of a little less than 21 million.

There has been amazingly high demand for American silver eagle coins recently, thanks to surging silver values, higher interest in silver bullion collecting, and many people becoming more interested in investing in silver than in stocks.

American silver eagle coins have been popular since the U.S. Mint first made them back in 1986. But with all the demand for these beautiful silver coins, the U.S. Mint has been needing to pump out more than ever!

American silver eagle coins contain 1 ounce of .999 fine silver -- that means these coins are almost pure silver. You can buy American silver eagle coins from the U.S. Mint and at most coin dealers.

My love for coins and numismatics began in 1992, when I was 11 years old. I primarily collect and study U.S. coins produced during the 20th century. I've also been studying meteorology and watching weather patterns for years. I enjoy sharing little-known facts and fun stuff about the weather with others.
